Spanish Coast and Montserrat

The Monastery buildings have not always been in the good condition they are today. The buildings were badly damaged by Napoleon's army (1808 - 1814) and the monks were forced to leave. Reconstruction was again halted during the Spanish Civil War (1936 - 1939) and the Monks forced to leave again.
